Here I am going to talk about my groups idea and choice for the opening sequence. As for a start, we had to choose a genre and we all decided that thriller/horror would be the best. We decided to go with one of these two genres because it was the most favourable genres that Lauren, Alex and I enjoyed the most. I thought and the others in my group thought that there was no point of picking a genre that we would not like because it was not make the project as enjoying as it could be. We tried to make the project as fun as possible so we picked our favourite film genre for the opening sequence. After we chose the genre that we were going to use for our opening sequence, we decided to brainstorms ideas of the narrative that was going to be used for our opening sequence. A lot of ideas were contributed into the planing and my group used different examples of opening sequence that was based around the same genre to see which ones inspired us the most and the ones we enjoyed the most to get some idea of how an opening sequence should flow. At the end of a lot of discussion, we came to a conclusion that we were going to create an opening sequence that would include an attractive innocent blonde girl in a thriller/horror themed opening that would be taken by surprise by a killer that is unknown. I thought with the group that it would be a good idea to create a cliff hanger (enigma), as it would be effective on the audience and excite the audience to want to watch more of our idea and to leave the audience questioning what is going to happen next.
My group and I decided to film off set and to use natural lighting and to film in a dark suburban area and mysterious places to where killers may take action or where suspicious activity could occur. My group though that we should never reveal who the killer is or to even leave much trace of what the killers is like as it makes it more surprising for the audience and gives it the more "enigma" effect on the opening. Overall I am very happy with my groups idea as I think it's a fun and active idea to use for our project and I am looking forward to working to create a nice opening sequence which relates to our group idea.
