Sound Extract

At the start of the sound clip you can hear the 20th century fox opening which is commonly used just before the movie s about to begin.

The music clip starts off with a very calm sound which is slightly eerie effect. You can hear some sort of machine in the background of the sound which makes it interesting and slightly unknown to what it is. It could be a robot or it could even be a spaceship docking. It sounds like it’s in a really big area as you can hear the very quiet echo like sound in the background, as if you were in a gigantic underground facility. I think at one bit you hear welding and the music builds up as if the production of something is successful. Some of the sounds may have been diegetic when they were recorded, but I think they have been added as the part of the music to make it more interesting.

After the sound of in a factory/production facility the music starts to hit in, drums start playing and I think I hear horns and then a little melody starts to play. This may reflect to the ‘spaceship’ or thing that has been created being ready for action/war. The emotional effect of this sound creates a bit of tension but is slightly military. After the fast tempo melody ends, it goes back into some calming music which is rather light and sound soaring.

The music of the extract is all over the place, from high to low to happy to emotional. It sounds rather flighty at some points of the extract. This makes the piece of music exciting.

When the extract comes towards the end it starts to calm down and become more silent as if the threat of something gradually fades away. I think at the end of the music clip you can hear something hit the group. The thing that hits the ground sounds like a used shotgun shell, or a bullet of some sort. I think the volume of this has been increased so it is louder than the actual music when it is fading away at the end.

I think if I were to add this music clip to a specific part of a movie it would have to be a movie based around thriller / action because of the instruments used it in such like the drums. If this was to be added to a romantic video clip, it wouldn’t be right and would be contrapuntal.
