Title Analysis

Misfits Titles

  • This is a title clip of the series Misfits. The colour of the title sequence is quite dull and dark. This creates an urban atmosphere to the series. Not only does it create an urban effect, it can also create a sense of negativity and crime which can relate to the graffiti that is shown in the title sequence. Another thing about the sequence and the colour that is used is the costumes (mis en scene) that is used. As you can see, the uniforms of the "Misfits" that are doing community service makes them stand out in the title analysis and allows the audience to notice and get a generalised view of what the characters look like.
  • Another thing that us as an audience get to see is some of the characters personalities. As you can see in the title analysis Curtis who is running looks like a guy who enjoys keeping his fitness levels to a good standard. Even though I have watched the series and know that he is a runner, the audience can get an understanding of what hobbies the characters like doing. Another example is when Alisha is on the phone and is leaning against the wall. This may suggest that she is a lazy character that loves to use her phone all the time.
  • The camera movement that is used in this title sequence is very interesting as most of the title sequence is animated which a lot of cartoons and animations. There's also a lot of fast camera movement when it comes to the title sequence. All the time it is sliding to another shot either to the right, left or up. This can suggest how the characters move and act. As it is community service, they can never be off their toes and always have to be working.
  • The sound that is used is a song called Echoes which is produced by a band called the Raptures. I personally enjoyed the music with the title sequence as it was jumpy and exciting which can have an effect on the audiences view towards the series before they watch it.
